Slayers segue as aventuras de uma feiticeira adolescente chamada Lina Inverse e, seus companheiros, em um mundo fictício fantástico. Usando magia e esgrima, eles combatem vilões como guerreiros, magos, ocasionais gangues de bandidos e monstros. A provável ideia por trás do motivo do nome da série, Slayers (Matadores), seja o fato de Lina e cia. sempre causarem destruição desnecessária por onde passam, mesmo que não intencional. Confusões causadas que renderam a Lina títulos (parcialmente injustos) como “A Inimiga de Tudo O Que Vive”, “Feiticeira Maligna” ou “Demônio”.
